His knock helped Pakistan post a huge total of 347 for 8 in the high-voltage final played at the ICC Cricket Academy Ground in Dubai on Sunday.
Sameer Minhas was once again at his best, registering his second century of the tournament. His aggressive innings put the Indian team under massive pressure, as he attacked almost every bowler and dominated the game from the start.
Sameer Minhas is the younger brother of Pakistan T20I player Arafat Minhas, who has already represented the senior national team. While Arafat is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler, Sameer is a right-handed opening batter who can also bowl leg-break googlies.
Born on December 2, 2006, in Multan, Pakistan, Sameer has steadily risen through the age-group ranks. He has played for Multan Region Under-13, Southern Punjab Under-16, and Multan Under-19 teams before earning his place in Pakistan’s U19 side.
Earlier in the tournament, Sameer grabbed attention by scoring an unbeaten 177 off 148 balls against Malaysia in his maiden Youth ODI. He also played a key role in the semi-final with an unbeaten half-century.
In the final against India, Sameer’s innings included 17 boundaries and nine sixes. He brought up his century in just 71 balls and looked set for a double hundred before being dismissed by a slower delivery from Deepesh Devendran.
